COVID-19 - News & Updates
With the developing realities surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, SPUMC has suspended all in-person worship services, meetings and activities until further notice.
Remember...this is temporary.
Our church continues to serve the congregation and community. Please continue to be a part of the ministry despite the pandemic. Watch your emails for opportunities to serve individually or in smaller groups. Do your best to remain connected during this time. And please continue to financially support the work of the church
What You Need to Know...
We may not be meeting together physically as the Body of Christ, but, thanks to technology, we have the ability to and are gathering together in spirit. Please continue to check our website or visit our Facebook page for up-to-date church information and to see our alternative worship options in place of in-person worship.
Virtual Sunday School
Currently we are offering Sunday School online at 10:15 for children. We’re reorganizing the Adult Sunday School class, so please be on the lookout for details about that. Please contact the church office for details on how to access these classes through Zoom.
Online Sunday Worship
Each Sunday we’re not able to meet, Pastor Denise will lead online Sunday worship using Facebook and YouTube beginning at 11am. It will also be streaming on our website. Click here to access that page.
If you aren’t able to watch live at 11am, you can access the archived video later on either Facebook or YouTube.
You can also watch the service via YouTube on your smart TV.
If you have any questions about accessing Facebook or YouTube pages, please let Pastor Denise or Beth know, and we will do our best to walk you through it.
Sunday Meet Up
Directly following worship (around 11:45), please join us on Google Meet for our Sunday Meet Up. Catch up with all your church family and friends!
You are able to call in and listen to our online worship through Zoom. Please contact the church office for information on how to do this.
Online Daily Prayer
Denise is offering Online Daily Prayer via Facebook and YouTube at 7:00am, Monday-Friday. These videos will be archived and available to watch later.
The staff of SPUMC will be working remotely to limit exposure to one another and the community. You can reach the office by email or through phone calls. We will be checking the church’s voicemail regularly during this time.
We will have limited office hours each Wednesday from 8:00am-1:00pm. Because this situation is very fluid and changes happen often, please be sure to call or email the office should you need to stop by to verify that someone is there.
Though we are not gathering together physically, our ministries and expenses are ongoing. We offer several ways to continue to financially support the church:
- Drop off your gifts at the church (in the mailbox by the office door) or send them through the mail (PO Box 639, Summerfield, NC 27358).
- Use your bank’s online Bill Payment system to set up “payments” to the church…this is completely free to you and the church and is deducted directly from your account and sent to the church.
- Online/electronic giving – to set up, click on the following link: https://tithe.ly/give?c=1304580. Contact the church office for detailed instructions to set this up.
Because we foresee that community need for our food pantry will be great right now, we plan to open as usual on the last Tuesday of each month, from 1:30-3:00pm.
We have changed the way we do things in order to keep everyone safe and healthy – those we assist in the Sonshine Room, as well as our volunteers.
First of all, we are asking any of our usual volunteers who are over the age of 60 to remain at home and not help this month. Though we appreciate their usual hard work, we do not want to risk their exposure to the virus.
Secondly, we will be doing a drive thru only distribution of our normal boxes of food and supplies. We will ask folks to remain in their cars, and we’ll bring the boxes to them. We also won’t be filling out the normal registration forms for each family. This will allow us to limit our interaction, as well as keep as much of a physical distance as possible.
With that being said, if you are under the age of 60, we need your help! The boxes will be assembled ahead of time, so volunteers will only be needed to transfer the boxes from the church to cars. Please call or email the church office if you can help.
